Nebraska is a state with many roving country-sides, and is considered to be one of the backbones of the United States. With this said, it is also one that has inherited quite a nasty drug problem. The problem is one that started as something as basic but debilitating as marijuana abuse, and then spawned into something ferocious over time. With the induction of methamphetamine into the society, it has long surpassed marijuana in being the most targeted drug by law enforcement agency. Given the proximity to many trafficking organizations, the state of Nebraska has turned into one of the states with the biggest addictions to the drug.
With addictions to alcohol, meth, and marijuana, it is no use why this state is known as one with higher levels than normal when it comes to abuse. Methamphetamine especially has held a tight grasp on this region, and is threatening to spread outward if not controlled.
This is not to take anything away from the biggest substance abused in the state, which is alcohol. Alcohol accounts for more than 70% of the admissions into rehabilitation centers throughout the state, and it ranks within the top ten for binge and heavy drinking. One of the biggest reasons why this number is so high is because of the ingrained sentiment throughout many Nebraskans who consider that binge drinking is really not that big of a deal. Less than 40% of the populous of the state feel as if it should even be addressed as an issue, which is considered frightening, considering that there would definitely be many more in rehabilitation facilities if they thought it were as big of a deal as it is. Unfortunately, when seen on a graph, the rate for potential alcoholism is about as shocking as it could get.
The off-putting figure is the young adult age demographic, considering that it is well above the national average when it comes to alcohol abuse. This provides proof that many people should contract the services of a qualified drug treatment program, especially considering the fact that this state in particular has a huge problem with both methamphetamine and alcohol, alike. Fortunately for Nebraskans suffering from the disease of addiction, there are many methods to go about eradicating it, and living to their full potential.
As of 2006, there were more than 100 of these facilities available to help the drug abuser. These include more than 10 state-owned centers, as well as 4 tribal rehabilitation centers available in the whole state.
For the person with problems with drugs, there are many resources in the state that can combat this. It is necessary to be diligent in their efforts to finding a better lifestyle for themselves. If they are comfortable (within reason) in finding a treatment center, this will greatly heighten their chance for success. Also, they should look into whether their rehabilitation center will provide the solutions that they need when they are looking for, as the specialist most be qualified in dealing with the problems of their patients.
